sharp and beautiful. But, sometimes things 

changes, which makes you realize that moving 

forwardand making a change is a positive approach.

Francia Visits GW Beacon @ M.S 424

Francia Raisa, 22, is an american actress.
Raisa has been more notable for her roles in
Bring it on: All or Nothing, The Cutting Edge 3:
Chasing The Dream and her most recent role
in the popular T.V show The Secret Life 
of an American Teenager. Francia was
born and raised in Southern California and
began her career as an actress in her junior
year of High School.

Today, Francia visited the Graham Windham
Hunts Point Beacon Center @ M.S 424 along
representatives from Aeropostale and Metro Public Relations.
She was received by one of our youth advocate,
Stephanie Sepulveda, who welcomed her and introduced her
to our after school program. Francia provided our
youth with words of encouragement: self-motivation,
leadership, and advise about why it is important to
always attend school.

After Francia finished her inspiration speech, she set
aside sometime to mingle with the children and sign
autographs. It was amazing how the children were asking
her questions about her career, personal hobbies and her
fashion taste. Our participants were delighted to see her
and be able to connect with such a down to earth person.

As a surprise gift, our children received coats/jackets!
We were all happy Francia came to visit our home!

At The Brink Of illiteracy!

Maybe many of us don't realize it yet,
but in about half a century in the future
technology will slap us in the face and
we will come to senses.

In about half a century or less society
will suffer an educational deficiency
larger than the one the United States
has at this point.This educational failure
will not be contributed by psychological
factors but by simple technological influences


that will determine the intelligence of the human mind.

As of today, more than 70% in the United States population
uses a cellphone and about 55% text every single day.

The simple process of texting contributes to the growing
scale of mispellers all around the world.

Texting abbreviation such  as:"def." "dkn," "fml," "lol," "lmao,"
"inter.," "wat u dng," "de/da," "hmu," "ttyl" and many more
promote intensively the idea that americans are unable to
rely on their own language to express themselves.

Although this way of texting language doesn't harmed anyone,
it will set footprints for a future generation to develop a simple
way connect, and express oneself: the texting language.
It is inevitable to stop millions and millions of people from
taking it the easy way and produce words that once didn't
make sense and now is a way of life.

Not only does the texting contributes to our misuse of words and
misspells, but browsing engines like Wikipedia and other
unreliable sources provide a wide amount of information
that is completely incorrect.

If we continue to exhaust our technological resources and use it
as our ticket to appear better, or to lie about knowing
of a subject you are not familiar with, is cheating
your brain with yourself.

Stop texting and take a pen and paper to really
feels how it is to write a nice letter to someone.

5 Shaving Tips When Using Gillette Fusion ProGlide!

Since Gillette Fusion ProGlide and I met 

face to face at the CVS Pharmacy, I have 

been talking about it since then. Today,

I want to share 5 useful tips that men in 

general need to know when shaving with
Gillet Fusion ProGlide

Tip 1. Using soap as a replacement for shaving gel
is a very bad idea. Soap doesn't contain the ingredients
necessary to sustain a good quality shave. In
exchange, using a gel that gives you both
smoothness and cleanness to the shaved
area, is a gel worth keeping.  In addition, I
completely recommend Gillette Shaving Gel
and Gillette After Shaving Gel for a soothing
sensation.

Tip. 2. I know of many colleagues that keep using
and reusing the same blades without properly
cleaning them before the second use. The point of
cleaning the blade is because when we don't use it,
then rust and dust, or bacteria can get in the
blade and might infect our skin.The proper thing to do
is to clean each reusable blade with alcohol. It could be
rubbing alcohol or just sanitizer.

Tip 3. When shaving, we all want a nice and clean shave.
Not a ride full of bumps and blood in the way. This is
why i recommend a directional shave.  A directional
shave, is when you shave in only one direction, for example,
upward, downward, left or right. This will improve
the quality of the shave and your skin will get use to
the one-way shave. It will decrease the bumpy
and bloody shaving.

Tip 4. I believe that, we all "shavers," need 
to contribute to the environment and 
sanitation. I think that we need to dispose 
of our beard hair in a proper way. Unfortunately, 
when we keep shaving on the sink and 
all the hair go through the pipes, one 
day it will accumulate and it will obstruct 
the passage of water. Instead of constantly 
shaving on top of the sink and letting 
the hair go through the pipes, it will be 
more safe to place a small supermarket 
plastic bag on top of the sink, and shave on top of it.
Let all the hair fall in it and wrap it really tight 
and dispose of it on the garbage bag. 

Tip 5. One last important tip! Shaving 
often or more then usual can damage 
the skin. It is recommended to 
shave at least twice a week,
people have different skin resistance 
but that doesn't mean that the skin 
can resist more than four shaves a week. 
Shave when it is necessary. Also,

Not Just Any Youth Empowerment Program

Hyde Charter School & Graham Windham Beacon's Youth Ambassador

Program located in Hunts Point Ave., South Bronx,

came together to celebrate the nearly three (3) years

of service to the community. As a commemoration

for their outstanding services and leadership,

Ms. Wise, co-leader, organized a special dinner trip to

Red Lobster.

Here, we discussed the importance of keeping

pride on what they do, and the great deal

that it is to always keep providing a positive

change within the schools (Hyde & M.S 424),

in order to create an environment in which

children from both school can communicate

in a smooth and friendly way.

Also, thanks to World Vision Community

Action Training, the ambassadors were able

to be trained about issues that affects our

neighborhood such as drugs and gang violence,

and as a result they were recognized by their

outstanding work.

I am very proud to believe in an idea so

powerful and unique like peace and love

between people.

I think that tonight, I've learned that the program

that I am part of is not just any youth empowerment

program, is a team action group that work ceaseless

to put a word across, unity.

A New Dawn For Chile's 33 Miners!

Despite the waits and the anxiety,

Chile & the world are finally celebrating

a new success story that will go into history.

It is celebrating a new dawn full of leadership,

integrity and team work, as the 33 miners

from the deep below the surface, at a

distance approximately 700 meters, are

rescued safe and sound.

The capsule, Fenix II, ascended and descended

without ceasing in journey of new hopes

for the men capture underground. Fenix II

didn't need any other replacements rather

than small fixes and restoration to improve

the quality of the trip, which made the rescue

quicker and efficient.

Mission accomplished signal the rescuers as

Luis Urzua, 52, arrived at the surface

greeting the president and engineers of such

difficult plan.

I am very glad that today the miners will

be able to see the sun rise and smell the

fresh air of chile and finally be free from

the rocks and dust that once covered them.

The two-month ordeal finally ended and the

world is watching and celebrating.

The Problem With Welfare & Government Benefit!

It is the government's responsibility to take care of their
constituents and provide benefits for those in need. Unfortunately,
at least in the United States, people, mostly from the ages of 40 to
65 years of age, tend to abuse the system by creating scams and lying
to the human resources department regarding their economic or health
status.

It is safe to say that many minority groups in the United States, live

with a mediocre income of $20,000 - $40,000 yearly, which doesn't
help cover all family expenses which leads people into seeking for
governmental help such as food stamp, WIC or any other source of help.

However, some people tend to exhaust the system by proving false
information, receiving money instead of food for other uses such as
cigarettes, drugs or alcohol.

Should the government impose further requirements for the applicants?
Decrease the amount of funds directed to the general public and give
it to families who really are below the poverty line or not offer
it at all and create programs like the summer meals but in the winter but
with 3 meals a day?

Process of Rescuing Miners Begin: Finally!

After being stuck in the mines of chile

the process of rescuing the miners begin.

It is extremely emotional to sit and watch

as the 33 miners that got stuck in

the mines in chile are being pull out

with hopes that everything will go according

to plan.

According to New York Times,

"each leg of the trip could take as little as 11 minutes,

but each round trip could take an hour.

The operation is expected to take one to two days."

Unfortunately, we will not be able to see all

the miners faces on surface today but I

hope that each and everyone of them

make it to surface safe and sound.

Even though, the story was push to

the site until today, everyone across the seas

is watching because this will mean another victory or

loss for Latin America and the world.

Let's all pray that the operation goes well!

Morocco: Reviving The Past

It is amazing how 7 years past since my trip

to Morocco, located in the Northwest of Africa.

It is astonishing how this trip change my life

and had a potential impact in my future.

Although, through the years I lost contact

with the people that offered me a roof

when I was staying there, I have never stop

to cherished and treasured their friendship and

hospitality.

Before going away on this trip, my ignorance

prevailed, myths and rumors about muslim

society scared me to death. From ideas

and psychological torment of Moroccan myths

such as criminals creeping in the streets for

tourist to food being one the worst, I felt

like i was going in for a real thrill. At some point

in the past I felt part of me believing in those rumors.

Nonetheless, I encountered the most amazing country

in the world. I felt welcome and proud of visiting

somewhere new, different people, different food, culture,

government system and most of all the warmth of a

muslim religion.

My host family were very eager to made me

feel comfortable. Mohamed,my foster brother, taught me

about the great infrastructure of Marrakech and

and the fascinating world of traditional clothes.

I had an amazing time in Morocco, and even though

I haven't had the chance to travel back, I want to give

thanks to my former teachers that made it all possible,

Elish Sari and Alfa Aquino. Also, my former classmates whom share this

experience with me, Margareth, Judith, and Robert.

I hope that before I die, I get to travel back there

and revive my past experience.

Windows Phone 7: Another Challenge for Apple?

According to the New York Times,

Microsoft Corporation release its new gadget

this past monday. According to the source,

the production of this new baby has been going

on for almost 2 years and its finally here to stay.

But the big question is not in which company

will the new Windows Phone 7 will work on, rather

will this new communication tool challenge

the unbeatable Apple Iphone 4?

Iphone 4 new and improve attractive look,

and network upgrade has left many fans with

their mouth open. From being just a touch

phone to have face to face video calling,

the phone does almost about anything.

Microsoft approach is apparent, they struggle

to gain costumers back, and in exchange to ameliorate

their drop in popularity, they provided a new product

that may be slicker than that of the iphone.

The company addressed that this new phone will

be able to integrate Zune music and video content,

which are all microsoft products.

Unfortunately, this product seems very familiar

to the iphone, being one of the most famous phone

that play movies, videos, music, add applications,

video conference features and a plethora of other

functions.

Will the Windows Phone 7 be a challenge for Apple?

T Mobile Iphone: Almost Official

As a t-mobile user, I am more than
delighted to announce that t-mobile
has unofficially consider to add the Apple iphone
to their collections of smart phones.

Although this great news hasn't been
confirm by t-mobile itself, there are
huge rumors that Apple might be
opening the doors to t-mobile.

This is huge! it will revolutionize
the industry and enhance an easier
access for t-mobile clients to get a hands on
the iphone.

As a user myself, I've been waiting the release of
the phone on t-mobile. It will make my live better
since i don't have to pay to open an new account
and pay the high rates that AT&T offers.

Hopefully, the iphones can become a phone that
can be use in any company networks like Verizon, Spring
and T-mobile. However, for the misfortune of those
Verizon's costumers, the iphone is not as comparable
with its network but instead more comparable to the t-mobile
network.

Verizon uses CDMA network while AT&T uses GSM just like
t-mobile which makes it the first choice on the list.

Not only will Apple gain millions of dollar by making this
move but it will gain many lost and loyal costumers back.

Release date is unofficial but many speculate that it could
be in the Fall 2010 or Spring 2011.

She Makes Make-Up Come To Live!

This is just not any regular woman we are talking about. She is smart, and talented. Although her skills haven't been share with the world, you would be amaze by the beautiful layout of make up that she is able to create in your face.

Even though, many women are able to master

the art of brushing, foundation and give style to

the young face, she is able to fabricate something

different for each occasion.

From tiger strips, to beautiful crystals for a wedding to a night on the town, she is able to fit your wanting and needs.

Mariel, a recently graduated psychology student from City College, has as a hobby the ability to create, mix and match and play with different color make up in order to bring beauty and

phenomenal works of make up art.

She is able to give detail to your presence while

maintaining the simplicity of your personality.

She truly can make make-up come to live

I don't know if this is a curse,

a skill, a gift or just another behavioral

problem but whatever this is I'm gladto have it.

For some awkward reason words

just come to my pencil like saliva

comes to my mouth. Its like thoughts are just

above my head and I can grab them any time

I want.

Sentences are like leaves on a tree,

branching out from my hand and

waiting for autumn to come so they

can fall right on my paper.

Verses are like napkins that clean clean my

heart's tears. Words, letters and languages

are my companion everywhere and anywhere.

These cry with me when in my deepest isolation

and laugh at the fact that i am happy with life.

Oh you wonderful world of melancholic phrases

and smiles, you seem to always find the right words

to fill my heart with desire and seduce me into thinking

that everything will be alright.

Oh great pen of my, you are my rightful owner,

landlord of my sonatas and anthems.

Poetry, you are the center of every single feeling. You

are motionless powerfu. You are without exception,

the only thing in this world I have completely control of.

Thank you for being There!

Gillette Fusion ProGlide: What a Man Wants, A Man Gets!

Well folks,

I really needed to share this story with all of you men out there.

I think that as a male in this world we really need to fight hard to

get what we seek for. For quite awhile now, I been meaning to try a new

razor, because the one I used left me bumps in my neck and made

me itchy.

I felt disgusting and extremely unhappy with the fact that I didn't have

any other choices then to buy a new razor blade machine. Although, it

worked for me the first couple of weeks, I wasn't completely happy with

the work it did. However, I keep using it because I though that was

the best I could've gotten.

Then, in one disappointed afternoon on a trip to CVS, looking

for random male care, I stumble into the magic world of Gillette,

not just Gillette, but Gillette Fusion ProGlide.

The trademark sounded so sexy and appealing. The brand was just

mind blowing. I felt like if I found a treasure hidden in some unexpected

part of my life. I keep shopping but I wanted to go home and try the new

product.

Certainly, after I got out of CVS, I went straight home. I opened the door and drop

the other bags. I went to the bathroom, applied shaving cream, opened the Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor and pray that this works.

And in all seriousness, it has been working phenomenal for me. No more skin itches, no more

weird bumps in my beard.

Seriously, if you are still using other razors rather than Gillette, I guess you are still naive like I was a year ago!!!

Legalize Marijuana? Are You Serious?

It is inevitable to think about whether marijuana should be

legalize or not. To many, marijuana, is miracle plan

for medicinal purposes, while others abuse it for

drug addiction.

Unfortunately, even though, marijuana is not legalize

it feels like it is. For instance, when I walk into

my building from a day tire at work and exhausted

from the day, I am expecting a quiet and personal

environment. However, the smell of marijuana in

the air fills my clothes with the odor and makes me

feel high without smoking it.

Although, it bothers me a little, i am not able to

fix the fact that marijuana is the starting crack

that have made our society fall apart. From domestic violence,

parent's of children in the hood getting high,

and marijuana damaging the brain by causing mild hallucination and

paranoid delusions.

Hopefully, you can understand and relate to my frustration.

Fundraising Proposal- The Entrepreneur Club-Lesson 2

Description:

It is important that students are able to formulate

their own ideas and descriptions concerning the event

they want to advertise. The best way to promote an event,

and to successfully have the approval of all higher powers

in the organization hierarchy, is to propose your idea in a

clear and well written format.

Although proposal writing varies from person to person,

the concept always remains the same.

In today's lesson we are going to learn how to put your

ideas into paper so others are able to comprehend the

complexity of your event.

AGENDA

• First create a catchy name for your event.
• Write a well-written description about why you are creating the event. Write at least 2 paragraph
• Then, write an in depth detail of what activities in your even will consist of. Write at least 1 paragraph for each activity.
• In the concluding part of your proposal it is always recommended to inform the reader about the time and location in which the event will take place and the approximate amount of people you will most likely expect. This is only for security purposes. Also, add a small brief detail about why this event will benefit the students and the community as a whole. This last part is to give your reader a more humanistic style to your event.

• Creating an event proposal to ensure event quality: event's name, time, location, description of events, target locations (schools) and an approximate amount of people that will come to such event.
• Plan ahead for troubleshooting such as: leader of activity is absent, location is on current use, or any other technical difficult that might influence a down fall for the event.

Students must follow the agenda criteria and must select an event in which they will be the coordinator and creator of all functions and be accountable for every detail within their events.

Just take a few second to dissect my purpose in life.

Just take a full moment to observe

that the guy in me is not so bad at all.

Take the time to talk to the man inside

and you'll see that prejudice is no intention of my.

Be careful when u open the door to my soul.

You might find something different from what you expect.

It may be an angel waiting to berevealed or

just another human that makes mistakes like anyone else.

My creation is not perfect.

I have flaws but I'm sure I am not theonly one with this disability.

My personality might be full of pride,

jealousy and untrustworthiness but loyalty is my biggest fan.

Open the treasure inside this person and you'll find that I'm not so bad after all.

Keep silence while walking in because you might wake up the predator.

Don't mistake me for a night

rather wait for the sun to rise so youcan really see the light on me.

Don't feel like I have change, I have just outgrown the skin within me

that made me gullible to the reality.

This is not to preach that I'm a different person now,

I'm just establishing the fact that I have evolve to someone

more technical andless systematically challenged.

Moving forward with or without the past, have made me realize

that I am important and only those who really value my unique

character aredestine to continue with me on the path to happiness.

It is onlynatural to advertise somewhere else if the production of my

moral sand virtues are no longer skillful and useful in a targeted population.

Look inside my jar and you'll see that I am rich, not in funds thatcan allowed

you to purchase materialistic things, but in emotions, love, courage

and in an unprecedented record of helping hands.

Within me and behind this gentleman, exist the most gracious husband,

caring parent, talented teacher and eager student.

The outside image is just an army of angry men that are only

protecting the treasure person that lives within me.
